Facial Hair Removal
Facial hair is traditionally associated with masculinity and is sign of sexual maturity of men. However, due hormonal imbalances excessive hair facial hair growth may also occur in women and is much more disturbing than excessive hairiness in any other area in the body. Excessive facial hairiness represents for many women much more that just an esthetic problem and directly interferes their femininity, and sometimes causing serious stress and affecting self esteem and self image.
Women perhaps want to be equal with men in all segments of life but no woman wants to have male physical characteristics especially the facial hair. In majority of cases of facial hair in women is not so severe than in men. Facial hair in women is usually only a bit longer and darker, and most commonly grows only above the lips and between the cheeks and ears although the coarseness and size of hairy areas greatly vary from woman to woman. The majority of women removes the facial hair more or less successfully with shaving, tweezing, waxing and depilatories which all have in common re-growth of hair. Shaving is perhaps the least appropriate method for women to remove the facial hair. After all, shaving of face is very closely associated with men and besides red bumps, ingrown hair, irritated skin and cuts it can also result coarser hair, not to mention that it shows. Tweezing is much more appropriate than shaving but it is relatively painful method and for that reason is used to remove hair only from smaller areas. Women who remove facial hair with wax save a lot of time in compare to tweezing, while the effect and re-growth cycle of the hair is about the same than in tweezing. One of the most common facial hair removal methods is also use of depilatories which only remove the hair from the surface of the skin and might result severe skin irritation and allergic reaction. For that reason all who are severely distressed by facial hair perhaps should consider permanent hair removal for example with an laser even if it is more expensive than other methods. Even if the laser hair removal in some people is not permanent and requires one or two maintenance sessions every year it has shown as efficient method in about 80% of all cases and has in average very good reviews in dermatology literature worldwide.
